I always walked out the library door with a stack of magical books, excited about a week's worth of reading in front of me. By mid-week, when I'd used up those, I'd wait for the bookmobile to come skidding to a stop on the other side of our apartment complex to check out two more. Those had to last me until Saturday rolled around again.
I became a writer in the third grade. That's when my best friend decided to become a publisher (her dad had a copy machine at work). She started the illustrious Cat Courier and needed reporters to capture feline news around the Jeffersonville neighborhoods. We sold copies up and down the block for 5 cents each.
I've held a few jobs since then. I've been a camp counselor, computer lab tech, activities coordinator for an assisted living center, English as a Second Language instructor, and a registered nurse who has worked ICU, transplant, and surgical recovery. The only job I've ever been fired from was my brief stint as a short order breakfast cook -- I've never been able flip fried eggs easy over without breaking the yolks.
Now I live in Texas with my husband and two elementary age sons who keep me laughing most of the time. We have a labrador, and a really cranky 17 year old cat. I'm a Cub Scout den leader of twelve terrific boys, and I help teach science lab at the school.

But my favorite thing to do is write stories, and I can't wait until more of them find their way out of my computer's hard drive and into the world.
